Great science fiction. This is the first book in a Trilogy. I am now listening to the 2nd book.
Not sure if I liked this book...more psychological thriller than typical detective/mystery. As this appears to be the first in a series, I will try the next one and then decide.
This was one of our car trip listens. Lots of interesting science...author explains fantasy vs. reality at the end.
This is at least the 5th Bryce Courtenay book i have listened to and I have enjoyed them all...part of what makes them so enjoyable for me is the narrator, Humphrey Bower...he is superb! Just found out their is a sequel to this book...will be listening to that next!
The reader was good and the story detailed and absorbing but it was incredibly depressing.
After listening to a bunch of books about dysfunctional women i was pretty depressed...needed a nice romantic pick me up and this worked!
The descriptions of life in Switzerland were amazingly accurate (having lived there for a year) and brought back for me...many good memories. The book was well written but was dark and depressing. Although I enjoyed listening to it and finished it in less than 24 hours, I have mixed feelings about recommending it as I found it, in retrospect to be very depressing.
I have enjoyed all of the Erik Larson books i have read so far. This one was “read” by Scott Brick (my favorite audible reader). In addition to the detailed info about the Lusitania and the passengers, there is a lot of info about President Wilson and the US politics before joining WW1. A history book that reads like a very interesting story.
I love reading science fiction...first book i have read by this author. Although I enjoyed it not sure i will continue with the trilogy. An interesting to think what the process and experience would be for earth colonists to move to a new planet. Many of the issues and experiences encountered seemed like they could be prophetic.
I read this book sometime in past year and I really enjoyed it! A different perspective.
