YES, FINALLY!
I've been reading a lot of books trying to mix things I love: detective books and queer people being happy and in love and finally, and I had so many misses, but I finally found one that is good, no hang-ups!
Okay, maybe some hang-ups.
The story is predictable, the characters have some common stereotypes and the cases basically solve themselves and end up a little too neat for my taste.
But, there's chemistry, the writing is fun and fast-paced, the details are strong and make the story more interesting and there is a connection to another series I read that made this even more enjoyable.
Really solid book as far as romance goes, and I plan on finishing the series.
I wish Goodreads let us give half stars to books because this is a 2.5.
This wasn't a good reading experience at all, this was a chore, this was suffering and frustration while living inside the head of a person that was really childish, ungrateful, and arrogant. I know trauma can do a number on people but the journey is not consistent with the character itself from past books, all the prerogatives set in book one regarding pack and shifters are thrown out of the window because of the protagonist, so much so that she alludes to that fact herself but doesn't repent.
Andrea went from the best novella until now to my least favorite character in this universe, when she was one of my favorites.

GRAÇAS A DEUS EU TERMINEI
O enredo é sem sentido e não se sustenta pela quantidade de furos, não é factível nem crível em absolutamente nada que se propõe. O sexo é ruim de doer, e as coisas que deveriam ser sexy só são anti-higiênicas mesmo;
3.75
Good and entertaining novel, nice but with some plot inconsistencies and the end was kind of hurried and everything worked out perfectly.
I've been wanting to read this book for the whole year, and I kept postponing it without reason because I'm me, but now that I'm done, oh my god, this is glorious.
I adore it when a piece of literature catches me by surprise, and this book did. Not because I didn't know it would be good, because honestly there are so many good reviews of trusted people sharing how good it is, but because of the dept I wasn't aware this book had.
Without spoiling, I can only say that well-rounded characters with good backgrounds and a solid plot will always make a 5-star story for me, and this is exactly that.
I absolutely adore Rune, Bran, Max, QUINN, Adam and Ciaran. I love my found family and how different they all are, but also how even if broken by life they're still such a lovely bunch.
Probably my favorite book of them all to this point 4.5/5
I loved the lore and all the mix of little details of different cultures and religions merged in here.
I like the way Kate and Curran are learning to compromise to make it work, even though I still hold him to better standards because she deserves it. But I will be able to enjoy their dynamics because of compromise and communication.
Aunt B, Dali, Doolittle, Andrea, Raphael, Derek, and Julie own my heart.
I also think the conflict between Raphael and Andrea is needed, even if some of the arguments weren't. I want to see their relationship evolve and grow, and I root for them to become better people, individually and together.
This is a 2/5 because it was interesting enough to be devoured quickly but I won't read the sequel.
Sophie Lark's writing is intriguing enough to make me read this all in one sitting. It's not flowery prose or complex poetry, it is a matter of fact, and sometimes you can feel it doesn't take itself all that seriously. Its most potent part is the ability to make you care enough to keep reading, I was entranced and hooked because I wanted to know what would happen to Mara.
The characters aren't exactly likable, and I don't think they would be to everybody's tastes. Still, I can understand why she dedicated this book to people who have struggled in the past because Mara can be relatable in her messy and flawed way of life because of what she's been through and who she chooses to be despite her wounds. Some moments I rooted for her, some moments I laughed at her poor decisions, and many times I was happy that she had agency over it, and she reflected on her choices.
Not even the pretty little liars corny quote made this bad for me.
I love to be surprised and I sure was in this one. I enjoyed it immensely!
This was fast and almost sweet, could have been better, but it was a nice way to spend time.
This is extremely readable.
There isn't much development, the book is really really short, and things between Logan and Lana happen pretty fast, but they do have chemistry and they're the kind of sweet and healthy couple we would love to see more in media.
I'm in for the ride, I'm finishing the series.
I finished Silver Under the Nightfall last night and I really enjoyed it!
They don't exactly change a lot of what's established about vampires, but some of them have different powers and stuff. The plot starts interesting but it's predictable and by the end some aspects are a little underdeveloped.
What really shines in this book are the characters. Our protagonist is a lovely human being deeply stubborn and flawed with a lot of self esteem issues and a huge capacity for love.
Rin wrote this in a way that right from the beginning I felt emotional about Remy and his life, it was hook, line and sinker for me because of his characteristics and background.
His love interests are delightful in different ways and their dynamic is a little Sunshine protector - Sunshine - Sunshine protector.
They're all marked by the horrors of life and trying to be their best versions anyway.
There's some miscommunication and past secrets but they talk, and they apologize when they fuck up and that honestly made their relationship so good for me. Lack of accountability in a romance really takes me out of it, and here it doesn't happen because they talk, even if they make mistakes.
There's smut, but Rin Chupeco wrote this in a teasing/snippet way that didn't feel annoying or disgusting, but I did enjoy their banter and foreplay way more than the sex itself.
Idk if this was inspired by Castlevania but the trio is really similar in some ways and I like that.
All in all it was a solid book even if it had some inconsistencies and I'm definitely picking more books from Rin Chupeco, I like their writing.
It's a 4.5 in my heart.
Some things did not go as planned at all, and there's a lot of character development that had to be had in this and I get it, I understand, I just don't like it.
Part of me was battling myself a lot of times during the reading experience because I wanted perfect almost easy. Tracy didn't give me easy, she gave me complex, and messy and in construction, and a different kind of reluctant hero coming of age.
But Tracy also gave me meaningful, mysterious, captivating and deeply enjoyable, and for that I am thankful.
This was fun but mostly because I was laughing at the book and not with it.
A lot in this is superficial, juvenile, awkward and so freaking cringe it hurts.
The writing is nothing to write home about and the story is barely put together. The couple got the chemistry of best friends that would say ewwww at the possibility of kissing. I had so many gripes about the way the plot was developed and how the same things could have been accomplished in different ways. By the end I just wanted it over so I started skimming a little bit, not even that saved the book for me.
Nonetheless, it was a good experience for me because I and my friends discussed it and made fun of some stuff and went off the rails with theories and pictures and kindness, and that is the only reason this is getting upgraded.
I'm rating this as a 4 for the entertainment I had while reading it, the plot had so many holes it looked like a drain BUT the main couple had chemistry, the FMC is awesome, and I laughed so much, that it deserves those 4 stars more than most books.
Dnf.
I started loving this, the characters were funny, seemed to have depth, and were interesting and well-rounded but this soured so much before the end.
Spoilers ahead:
But I didn't look at the tags so I didn't know there would be cheating in this. Personally, I'm very against cheating, in real-life situations, I still know it happens and in some cases, it's more or less frowned upon. And while it's not my favorite trope or plot device I can stand it when there are compelling arguments from the cheater's perspective, and the matter is addressed as it is, without anybody involved pretending it wasn't what it was. The first thing is real here, one of our main characters has been in a committed relationship with a man for the past 10 years, and she loves him as her best friend, but she is a lesbian, and she needed to experience it to realize her true feelings. What bothers me is the book trying to pass her betrayal as something simple as "neglecting to mention some details" when she actually betrayed and lied to 2 different people, her boyfriend and the other main character in this book. Throughout the whole book said character acts like a jerk but is always left out of the rook on the account of being brilliant, smart, and groundbreaking when she is often rude, unprofessional, and an asshole.
And I just can't with that, they're not teens, they're 30's women for god sake, that ain't cute.
