I thought this book was really good! I think it dragged a little in the first third, but picked up quickly as the story pieced itself together. If the pacing at the beginning was a little faster, I would give it 5 stars.

The book was very well-written. I liked it wasn’t extremely serious and humor was woven into the dialogue. I also think the author did a good job of building a story up to create a feeling of suspense over time. However, it felt like the book fell flat because nothing interesting ever happened. There was no plot twist like I was expecting, or really anything super unpredictable.
Overall, I’d only recommend this to a specific type of person and I think most people won’t enjoy it that much.
I thought the worldbuilding in this book was really well-done. The utopia that Chambers built for the characters definitely fit with the overarching themes of the book.
The story was very cozy, but it didn’t feel like there was a ton of substance, perhaps because of how short it was. Unfortunately, this made the book stand out less than me. I’d probably recommend it to others looking for a quick read, but it probably won’t appeal to a lot of people.
The overall story was very compelling. There were some confusing and less-explained points. Also it felt like Rune and Brand were unnecessarily violent at times, which could be part of what the author is trying to portray, but slightly detracted from my enjoyment of the story.
