This book was required reading for my 7th grade English class but don't let that deter you, I still think about this book 12 years later. I like to take my time reading but at every class check point I found myself a couple of chapters ahead of the class because I simply could not put the book down. With the current state of Afghanistan it is important to read literature about Afghanistan from actual Afghans. I really think this book is something everyone should read at some point in their lifetime. Don't let the fact that it was a required reading for a 7th grade class fool you. This book can easily be enjoyed by all ages.
I gave this 4☆ I enjoyed it and the cozy vibes! I loved how even though this was a romance book the romance wasn't the main focus of the story. It was about her finding a place to call home and fit in the community so I see the Gilmore Girls vibes.
Why do I feel like this is a self help book someone forced me to read as part of an intervention? I did not get the plot at all, the book had a lot of parts that were just.. unnecessary? This also feels like I'm being yelled at by a motivational speaker with dramatic music in the background.
This book is my first fantasy book I've read in such a long time and I feel like this is the perfect fantasy book for people who want to get into fantasy because there isn't much world building and there aren't a lot characters to keep track of.
Now to the plot.. this book literally broke me. Despite being nobility I found Catherine very relatable and the person I saw as Catherine was Barbie Ferreira and I feel like she would BODY the movie adaptation if that ever happened. I love villain origin stories and this book is no different, I just wish the author gave Catherine a little more personality. I loved this book but I just wanted a little more. This was a 4.5 rounded up to a 5.
this was a fun read but every time the fairy king was mentioned my brain just went numb
