Good Husbands

I'm not sure what to make of this book.

On the one hand I can understand the wives anger at their husbands. But, on the other hand, they believe what the letter tells them without any real proof? Just going on hearsay?

I'm also not sure I understand how they can cover a crime up, yet treat their husbands with contempt? Don't get me wrong, rape is serious and there's no excuse for it. But the wives behaviour towards what they did, and what their husbands did stank of hypocrisy.

I also don't understand how the wives could cut the men so fully out of the childrens' lives, when realistically there was no real danger to them. You might not want anything to do with the men, but cutting them out their kids' lives? You'll likely end up hurting the kids.

I can't say I much liked any of the characters, although I did feel a tad sorry for Stephanie. Her husband was awful.
