holy moly............ THAT ENDING???????????

this is a really high 4 stars for me, i feel like might even be a 5 stars if i reread it, but there were a few dips that just kept me from a full 5 stars. i'm diving immeidately into the next book tho soooo

i added this book to my tbr a couple years ago actually, and sort of forgot what it was about other than a vague sense of space opera & lgbt themes. and picking it up now (during my 2024 physical tbr challenge) i didn't even revisit the blurb i just jumped right in ... and boy am i glad i did, this was a RIDE

this really tickled the part of my brain that loved the part in alien prometheus around this sort of trek to an ancient civilization's birthplace in space, birth of a “creator myth” around it, and the unhinged nature of it all. but it also departs from that in a lot of ways, and the way things were DESCRIBED in this
