2 things bothered me and I just couldn't continue. One is that plot isn't everything...Ive read books that had amazing plots but the writing was just terrible. So that they kept being like well anyone could write this plot and it was going to be best seller bs, I wasn't buying.
Second, yes it was the student's idea but he died so....why couldn't protagonist just plop blurb in book saying student so and so told him of this idea and the he died. He hoped he did him justice blah blah. Then yeah, up front. Dude still wrote the book so I just don't get it.
Really disappointed in this one. The first 10% and the last 10% were the best parts. The middle was just a smut fest. I didn't feel the connection at all. What I want most out of my romance is the the romance. And I just didn't feel it. Wouldn't hurt to also have more world building to help with the fantasy part. I don't think I will continue with this series. I feel like I'll get the same, a few interesting things buried in smut.
Easy read but not a lot of facts. Just speculation and this is how this animal felt. No scientific notes and lots of repetitiveness.
Not really any likeable characters. I don't think calling half the country (republicans) ugly is very advisable. Why people think Republicans are hillbillies and don't read is beyond me. Normal suburban working mom with a stem bachelor degree here and I read plenty. Authors should keep their opinions about politics out of their books. This author has put herself on my never read another book from this author list. Sad that this list keeps growing due to authors unable to keep political opinions out of their books. So much hate for differing views.
Knew who the killer was in the first couple of chapters. Lots of red herrings and push to distract from that one person but it was kind of obvious for me. Didn't like any of the characters. Riley sager is really hit or miss for me.
It really stirs the emotion of anger. But in all it felt really bias. The cops were shown as so incompetent that they couldn't tell up from down and the judge who would throw integrity out the window for the boys in blue. I need to go over the court case myself but as a whole the book just didn't convince me that they were innocent because so much bias was thrown in.
Just not realistic. The nature writing was good but the rest nah. Also the feeling of being too ya for me.
Wasn't what I was expecting. More about eccentric people in Savannah Georgia than actually about the crime.
Dinosaurs were fun... characters not so much. Didn't like the movie that much either so...shrug.
Unlikable characters, too many pop culture references and focus on clothes, and just too out there for me. Maybe I'm being a grinch but this did not work for me at all.
Haven't read this series in years. I think I've just grown out of it and these new ones aren't as great the original 5.
Not for me. I'm a woman in a stem career. Honestly men are not that bad. You got a few bad apples but there's also a few bad apples in the opposite gender. Couldn't relate to main female and the use of cis male....no thank you.
Like the cancer parts. Teared up about the thought of dying before your child is 3, having young kids myself. But the rest....wasn't for me. I lost my mother to stage 4 cancer, I was reading this with the hopes of understanding what my mother felt and to help process. I just didn't get what I wanted from this book.
Did not like the heroine. Boring and long drawn out. Very politically correct main characters. May try the 2nd book since I was interested in the hero.
Long winded. One character kept hanging out with evil character that killed her brother. Evil character keeps doing evil things and no one does anything about it.
Tried a second time to no avail. Tired of Molly. Tired of no assassin stuff happening. Tired of the moaning and self centered thoughts of Fitz. I'll just have to accept unlike most ppl this series is just not for me. It lacks logic in how people act. And sadly I bought the whole series that now need to find a new home sigh.
I got this when it came out. I've tried to read it multiple times but only got half way before setting it down. Finally I finished it. I still found it very boring. A lot of setup for a book we may never get.
I dnfed the first books so many times. But I kept hearing it gets better around book 3/4. So I decided to at least try to get to book 3 with audiobooks. But obviously this is more of a male wishlist wet dream. Maybe it does get better but honestly I don't want to put anymore time in this series. So many more books that I'm interested in that doesn't do the nice guy that all these women pant over and all women are detailed about what sexy clothes they are wearing and their hair, lips, boobs and butts.
Just so bored and not interested at all. Dread picking it up again so dnf currently. Maybe another time.
This is a case of a book just being too political for me. Read to escape and not have to listen to someone else's political views.
