It's the start of a new year! Whether you're planning to read authors you love or branch out to new series, it's a fun time to get excited about what you'll read next. Which books are you most excited to read in 2025?

State of Wonder

State of Wonder
ByAnn Patchett

2011 • 121 Readers • 280 pages 3.8

Why this book?

And patch it is one of my all-time favorite authors. As I’ve read her novels over the years I have saved some, so I have the opportunity to read them Over time. State of wonder has always been interesting to me as it was written right before Commonwealth, a book very close to my heart. I hope to see how her writing evolved and how this book differs from many of her earlier books that are set more in the real world.

A Well Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy

2024 • 9 Readers 4.6

Why this book?

Memoirs have been taking over my read and to read shelves for a few years now. As I read them frequently, they can be tiring and draining due to the realities and difficulties that the author lived through. Although this being the case, I think they can open you to a view or experience more than any other genre. A well trained wife continues. My reading of women escaping patriarchy and finding power through writing their stories.

Moneyball

Moneyball
ByMichael Lewis

Why this book?

My partner loves nonfiction, narrative, writing, and has been reading many McGrath and Louise books over the years. As a graduate student working in data, Moneyball and Louise is writing has always intrigued me, however with the dense material, I often find it difficult to fall into. I hope this year I will have the opportunity to do so with more ease.

This year I want to challenge my genre choices and one of my friends, a lover a fantasy, recommended Circe as a good bridge to get into more fantasy based reading.
