I spent a decent amount of this book crying! I loved the characters relationships and Apollo's growth as a character. I cried a lot over the Arrow of Dodona, and Apollo's almost death. The ending was very sweet with him visiting everyone, and I think the Chalice of the Gods storyline and the Sun and the Star were referenced so I'm excited to read those soon. I can't believe the Trials of Apollo are over. I enjoyed the series more than I thought I would originally. Definitely worthy of a reread in a few years.
I read The Hidden Oracle as an audiobook, as I do with most of what Rick Riordan writes. I found Apollos godly arrogance really funny, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of the character growth we see him go through in this book continuing within the rest of the series. The Hidden Oracle was a three star book for me primarily due to the characters. I really value the characters in a story, and was looking forward to seeing some of my favorites who either were not in this book at all, or were only in it a little bit. I'm sure I'll grow to love the main characters in this series as I read more of Trials of Apollo. Despite not having many of my favorite characters, the end of The Hidden Oracle left me wanting to read the next book in the Trials of Apollo, The Dark Prophecy, as soon as possible.
Palace of Lies was such a fun book, and a lovely ending to the Palace Chronicles Triology. I loved getting to learn more about Desmia and see her grow as a person as she learns more about the world outside the castle. The ending was especially fun, as I had no idea what was going to happen next! My only wish is that the Palace Chronicles had been a longer series. I love the characters and think it would have been fun to have more books about the lives of all the different princesses.
I loved this one! I'm a little sad the Magnus Chase books are over (except the Novellas which I'm reading soon)!! I cried during the Flyting and honestly just loved everything during the end. I think Alex is probably my favorite character, I love the gender fluid representation, there's so little of it in the media. For the overall story, I do feel like some plot points were left out in the open or otherwise weren't really talked about, which is a bummer since the series is over. What was addressed was really good though!
Okay, I love Alex!! They're such a fun character! I still feel like I don't understand a lot going on story wise, but I really enjoy all the characters and how they all interact. Jack, the sword, is so funny, especially for an animate object. I'm looking forward to the third book, even though it's the last in the trilogy.
I liked it! I think it's really interesting how all the different Pantheons are so different. Rick Riordan does a good job of making the different types of Demigods or mythical creatures very unique across the different series. I love that Annabeth is Magnus' Cousin even if she's barely in the book, it makes the series connect better. As for the Sword of Summer's actual story, it was really interesting, I don't know a lot about Norse Mythology so it was all new to me.
I was hopeful that Palace of Mirrors would be a direct sequel. It is more of a spinoff in the same world. We do see more of Ella and her story, but she is no longer the main focus. I really enjoyed the main character, Cecilia, and her best friend Harper. They were very fun characters that were written realistically and felt accurate to their ages. This story has an amazing twist towards the end that had me eagerly reading to find out what would happen next!
I love this book so much! I read it first at a very young age and reread it many times over the years. I'm rereading it as an adult for the first time, and it's still as good, if not better, than I remember. Knowing how that it is just book 1 in a trilogy has me so excited to read the rest of the books! My only issue with this book is that Ella is 15 and that the love interest is around 20. However, Ella is hardly written as a 15 year old girl, and her age is only mentioned once, so I just pretend she's older than the book states.
That book was insane. I'm at a loss for words. I cannot recommend this series enough. Also, you should absolutely read Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses first cause seeing teasers and Easter Eggs throughout the book had me SCREAMINGGGG!! I love all the characters and I'm so excited to see where Sarah J Maas takes the story from here!!!
The original trio is back together for a series of quests! All with the goal of getting Percy into College at New Rome University! This book perfectly captured the more lighthearted-ness of the original series, a feeling I loved getting to go back to. This book was so much fun, my only complaint is that it wasn't longer! I would have loved to spend more time with the original trio. I guess I'll have to wait till Wrath of The Triple Goddess comes out!
This Novella was so cute! It was just a few short stories from different people set in a couple of different places. Little quests or adventures, it was fun. I loved the overarching story of Thor on a run and him having forgotten to turn on his little step tracker at the end. It was very funny!
This has easily been one of the best books I have ever read. In The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper we see a glimpse into a full life. This book touches on so many raw human emotions and experiences. I cried a few times throughout this book, and I'm going to check out more works by Phaedra Patrick. They write people and their experiences so realistically. This novel was like listening to my great grandparents tell me stories of their lives, something I desperately needed.
This Taylor Swift inspired, second chance, popstar romance was absolutely spectacular. The FMC and MMC had the best banter, and I loved the dual pov. I am frankly obsessed with the ending to this book! The Breakup Tour has me raving, I've already recommended it to several of my friends. It was such a fun and quick romance read. I cannot recommend it enough, especially for fans of Taylor Swift or similar artists.
Family of Liars was a lot easier to get into than We Were Liars was. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and getting to learn more about the sisters was really interesting. The fairytale metaphors made little sense to me, but every other aspect of the story was very engaging. The ending was not as sad at the ending to We Were Liars, but it was very interesting and surprised me. Despite Family of Liars being a prequel, it should 100% be read AFTER We Were Liars as the first few pages alone spoil the ending to We Were Liars!
I really enjoyed Reached. The plague in this book was a really interesting thing to read about Post-2020. I loved the development of a cure and, honestly, just all the medical things. It could've been more detailed, but it wasn't something I expected from this book, so it didn't bother me that it wasn't. I didn't care much for the romances in this story towards the end. I cared more about the FMC and her family, as well as the politics of a revolution.
There wasn't anything that made this book bad or great. It is firmly a good book. It's a run of this mill dystopian with heavy emphasis on Choice and Romance. I really enjoy the Matching System and the Tablet System which are the two most unique aspects of this story. The characters are interesting but nothing to out of the ordinary. It's a good quick read.
I really struggled to get into this book. I had to switch from an audiobook to my kindle, because I was too confused by the way the book is written to understand what was going on when listening to it. It gets interesting around half way through the book, but it continues to be quite confusing until the end when things start to make a little more sense. The ending is the only reason this was not a 2 star review though. The ending was very interesting, I was completely surprised, and it made me cry! If you don't like sad endings, this may not be the book for you. If you LOVE sad endings, definitely read this book, I was heartbroken.
I really enjoyed this! It was just a little short story about life at Camp Jupiter with a little quest, it was fun!
Crossed deviated from the tried and true false utopia set up in Matched. I really like the canyon as it was an interesting and unique choice for the setting of a decent chunk of Crossed. Getting to see both the main characters' pov's also made it more interesting than had it stayed a singular pov story. All in all, this book was a good transitional book between Matched and Reached!
I cried a lot during this book, especially towards the end! I love how Apollo has become a lot more human despite his powers starting to come back. I really liked Reyna in this book, especially closer to the end! Seeing Apollo miss Artemis and vice versa was really sweet! I can't decide if this was my favorite or not so far, but it was definitely amazing and had fantastic character interactions and character development!
I really loved this book! The characters go through hardship and work on their relationship throughout the entire book, and it was really nice to see. Like how we get to see Will and Nico's differences and see them getting frustrated with one another, yet still caring for each other despite that. I also really liked how Will had issues in Tartarus and had to use memories, music, and even a Sun lamp to stay well in Tarrarus due to being a child of Apollo. I also absolutely adore Small Bob and the Coco Puffs, so that helped me really love this book.
Finished the Dark Prophecy. It was a good book, but not my favorite Rick Riordan book. As a fan of Leo and Calypso's relationship, their interactions in The Dark Prophecy were disappointing. I did enjoy Apollo's character growth and the couple at the Waystation, but most of the plot and characters just felt a little lackluster for me. I'll likely reread The Dark Prophecy any time I'm doing a reread of Rick Riordan's books, but I wouldn't use it as an example of why someone would read Rick Riordan's books.
This has been my favorite of the Trials of Apollo series so far! I think I cried a couple times. The character development in this book was so good!! I'm a big fan of Piper's Charm Speak so this was a fun one for me. Plus Grovers in this one and I've been missing him so much, the books have barely had him lately! Anyway I'm looking forward to the next book hopefully it'll be a 4 star as well.
This Novella was so good!!! I'm already in love with this series! The characters are so unique from anything I've read. This Novella had more world building than Origin of a Guild Master did, which was nice, I like slowly piecing together information about the world. I'm excited to see what the other Novella's and Books will be about!!
I didn't know it was possible to so thoroughly break a person's heart with only 8 Chapters and an Epilogue. This Novella was short, heartbreaking, and such a compelling start to what I'm sure will be a spectacular series.
