A solid 4 stars for me.
This is an old fashion slasher (it even has two very, VERY soft sex scenes; and yes, the people involved all die!).
The writing is very good. The author knows how to keep you engaged even though it can be a little repetitive (it is a slasher after all).
I particularly loved the villain in this one. The killer is having so much fun with it. I mean, he's having the time of his life. And it just happens to. I mean, in a split second, just like that.
I also loved the fact that, to my knowledge at least, there is no other reason for that switch other than he felted like it. No rage, no past trauma, no revenge... just ‘cause. And this is not because of a lack of deepness of character. It's just how he is (you will see in the end, God I love that part, the last scene with the killer is just... ART).
I will definitely pick up more of Joey Comeau's books. He got me hooked.
I recommend it to any and all slasher movie buffs out there.
Quelle belle surprise, un vent de fraîcheur, une bombe de bonheur ! J'ai adoré ce roman. Drôle, émotif, surprenant (mais pas à la manière d'un suspense), confortable... Je pourrais continuer comme ça longtemps.
Suivre Andrew Blake dans sa transition, voir tout ce dont il comprend page après page a été un cadeau du ciel. Très bien écrit, l'auteur nous fait vivre cette étape cruciale de la vie où le protagoniste réalise enfin ce qu'il est et trouve sa place en ce monde. J'ai adoré rencontrer son nouvel entourage, à savoir Madame (Nathalie), Manon, Odile, Philippe et bien sûr Méphisto. Je me suis réellement attaché à ces personnages et espéré leurs bonheurs. J'avoue déjà m'ennuyer de ce groupe hétéroclite qui au final... (à non, il faut le lire les amis)
Ma première rencontre avec M. Gilles Legardinier, et assurément pas la dernière. D'ailleurs, j'ai appris qu'il faisait aussi du thriller alors je me lance.
Ce livre, après une série de lectures noires et très dures, m'a redonné espoir en l'humanité. Il m'a fait sentir bien, heureux, et m'a beaucoup fait rire. Je le recommande à tous, même si le genre n'est pas dans vos cordes, je vous garantis que M. Legardinier saura vous charmer et vous soutirer un sourire, une petite larme et vous donner un sentiment de bonheur.
Copy/past the first book of the series and you get this one. Which means that every thing that I didn't like about the first one is still there, but the things that I did like are now deluded because of the redundancy of it all. I will not go for the third one. Enough is enough...
