Beautiful, well designed and printed book with informative essays. Showed me a part of Mackintosh's work I knew almost nothing about.
Enjoyable listen. Characters are complex and world building is top notch - if a bit gloomy (even for Gothic tastes I think). Plot is intriguing - group politics, interpersonal relationships, personal history and societal change all in the mix. Recommended.
I have an english version of this edition. Lost village, lost child, lost loves, lost gods. Seems sad and it certainly can be but loss is like that and melancholy is more the word for this to be honest. Enjoyable start to the series.
Make no mistake, Steven Erikson can write but I am not the audience for this book - too old I guess and have spent much time in my life thinking about the subjects he discusses, so I guess it just felt a bit preachy.
Beautifully written, oddly dreamlike story about forms of loss. I can't really say more than that.
Oh, the things I could say about this book. Complexity of characters and world building, are just a few. Recommended for fantasy readers who have patience and are not looking for a quick read.
Solid well written essays that address contemporary concerns. As this is written by some one who's age and background are very different from mine I enjoyed seeing things as important that I might not think about otherwise. Gets me out of little world, enjoyed.
The setting is beautifully evoked, the main characters are intriguing if a little stereotyped at times, and the food - makes me very hungry. Many of the main characters are good folk and it is enjoyable to spend time with them. The mystery itself, to these 2021 eyes/ears not so great complicated or shocking (maybe it was at the time of publishing) and I don't care - end the end I wasn't there for the mystery.
Lovely 1st third and final 3rd, middle bit drags a bit. Maybe I am being a bit picky? Hightly recommended. Great fun overall.
Finally got this done. Kept getting distracted and I do so like his videos on youtube. Anyway, mix of travel log and history and his personal life. Some of the history hit hard but otherwise a gently told wander around one man's life and geography.
Craziness. Good times though. Really enjoying Mike Norton's artwork (clear lines) and storytelling - goofy but with little dark edge to it, maybe.
Geography physical and historical that I know nothing about. Read in a well lit room as the art is a grey and smokey by design. Enjoyable and informative.
don't can't won't stop try again fail again it you they glitch it you they can't won't mustn't stop live the anger live the joy live resist
Really enjoyed the expansion of the characters background. The mystery to be solved was quite good as well.
Great art and much of the story is great. The violence towards women is graphic, so mixed bag.
This continues the stories of Dr. Siri and his group. Very good stuff, well written, not too long, not too violent and a lot of humor.
Excellent continuation of the series. Well written, sympathetic characters and an intriguing mystery.
