ARC review! I still struggle with her writing style but this book was much better than her 1st on all counts. The POV switches weren't as jarring and gave away less of the future plot than the first book. The beginning of the book dragged a bit, but it definitely picked up at the end.
Surprised she wrote for the mystery series and not the romance one. It was a cute concept and wasn't hindered by the short length.
I don't know what it is about her books but they hit me every time.
LOVED the shade at the gossip podcast.
This was cute and at times a little too relatable. The ‘stop we're miscommunicating scenes' were a little too on the nose at times, but I think I'll take it over the usual miscommunication trope
Okay this was just what I needed. The right mix of vengeance and smut to get me out of a reading slump
A Cinderella retelling that reminded me of the Hilary Duff early 00s movie. Benedict definitely falls into the ‘boys are dumb' category and it took him way too long to get his head out of his ass.
There's also a very clear thread of the women being smarter in these books even though society doesn't allow them to be (which I appreciate).
This was a fun mystery set in Victorian England. I love the additional “revenge” scenes at the end.
Oh boy where do I begin. This test itself is total bullshit as it's extremely clear what the ‘right' answer is. They use am American grading system for test results, which really does a disservice to everyone.
They give no info on the size or demographics of all their ‘data'. Which I find laughable anyway since self awareness is something being tested. Both the book and the test are extremely neuro-typical. This book definitely shows its age.
The 1 star is for the actual ‘strategies' which is basically rebranded therapy. If you're looking for a book on emotional intelligence pick literally any book on therapy and it'll be better.
The plot was good. No third act breakup but the equivalent plot point I saw a mile coming and had to put the book down. The writing overall was a bit cringey
Wow there was a lot of past character trauma packed into this romcom that I was totally not prepared for and I'm not entirely convinced it was fleshed out fully. But the actual romance plotline was great
What a fucking spooky sight just seeing/hearing the clap of of a telegraph. I feel like these two have a lot of misadventures
This was fun. A little historical fiction, a little mystery, a lot of fantasy, plus a fun narrator. Also loved the subtle Shakespeare references.
This one was cute. And I definitely spent the whole time picturing the griffon as Toothless
Ok there were definitely some grammatical issues with the translation BUT I am hooked
-1 star for the translation +1 star for the cat
