The tension??? The pining????? The chemistry??????? This is how you do second chance romance. Ending was rushed but I still loved this so much
2.5 stars. Interesting! But repetitive. Could have been edited down more. I got it as an audio book since that was the only version available on Libby, and I don't know if I would have finished it if I had the physical copy and wasn't able to multitask (like folding laundry and drawing in coloring books and cooking dinner, lol) while listening it.
Emily Henry has a way of breathing fresh air into contemporary romance, writing tender but witty stories into a genre that is often formulaic and tropey. Her characters are real, the banter is so funny, and the chemistry pops off the page.
Alex is me and I am Alex. I loved his journey with poppy. Friends to lovers is a top tier genre and it's never been done like this before. Reading this while in Palm Springs was also perfect. Thank you once again emhen
4.5 ⭐️
I loved this. It was the best parts of the first book - the spirits, the lore, Jack and Adairas relationship, Sidra and Torin - expanded upon. A beautiful and cohesive duology.
The mountain was this book. Lights on no ones home vibes. Said so little in so many words.
I really wanted to love it. Saw a tiktok that said “this book would have changed my life had I read it in my twenties.” It was too all over the place - money troubles, grief, anxiety, depression... too many disjointed topics for such a short book, and it didn't even really keep up with the mountain analogy.
Truly nothing at all happened until 80% and then they info dumped the entire mystery, but I didn't care enough about Noemi be scared on her behalf. Just supremely grossed out. I would have DNFed if this was not our book club book. If you are looking for a mushroom horror just play/watch The Last of Us
This was good enough to finish, but I don't think it was good enough to pick up book 2. Ya know?
June 26 so I loved this and I can't wait or deny it any longer
June 17 The general consensus in the book community is that this is either top tier or #5 in readers Emily Henry ranking and I firmly fall into one of those camps but am feeling cheeky and won't reveal my rating until book club hehe
Adding this to my list of books that should be required reading
Ok editing my review after more thought: I agree with her stances and views and the fragility of white feminism. I did find the writing a bit repetitive and not fleshed out enough.
Don't judge but I read this at least once a year just because it makes me feel cozy ok? F jkr I will always be a Harry potter kid in my heart
3.75 ⭐️ I think this is a really unique premise, I think it gets more hype than deserved, I think I enjoyed reading it, and I think I probably would not have picked it up if it wasn't the book club choice. Something is preventing me from a full 4 stars but I can't figure out what?????
F it I'm giving this a five. This was a reread and thank god that I didn't remember a thing from the first time I read. I will be feral on Jan 30. What a good read to start the year
3 stars. World building is 4/5, but character development is 2/5. Bought the paperback, but will probably only continue the series if I get them for free from Libby.
Pirates and mermaids and magic oh my! 2.5 stars. Will I read the next one? Who knows. KU
Ppl hate this book. I will give it 3.5 stars. think it is fun and tender and honestly what you want but don't get to see when a fantasy book ends - the happily ever after. I loved the gentle moments (Elain cooking solstice dinner and giving az a solstice gift) and the healing moments (Feyre opening a studio for art therapy) and just the fun moments (cassian and Feyre drunkenly decorating). Idk I just feel like this book is soft and fun for winter time. Happy solstice love u
Can't decide if this was a 4.5 or 5 for me but all I know is that it was a masterpiece.
The way Paul held both science and feeling in such close regard was so inspiring to behold. The epilogue by his wife was a beautiful testament to life they lived. What a powerful and special book.
It feels strange to rate this on a scale of stars, so I won't. But I devoured Paul's words within the span of a Sunday, and know that this book will stick with me.
I forgot how fun it is to crush an entire book on a Sunday afternoon. This was a delight and so happy place coded. Perf summer read!
