DNF - I was LOVING the first part of this book from the initial characters POV and I just wish the whole book was focused on that character and their story. There was too much time spent focused on too many characters (really just one POV) that I did not find interesting. I just stopped finding myself reaching for this book. Also I made it over 300 pages in and I would have expected to see more fantasy elements here by that point. Disappointed.
Loved it loved it loved it. A beautiful somber telling of a brutal war and also of family and of love. I didn’t know that I wanted to learn this much more about Galva, but I am so glad that I have.
I cannot wait for more from this world, and more from this author in general.
3.5 or more but just not quite 4.
Had a lot of really cool fight scenes and had a lot of heart but some parts moved really fast and some parts dragged on too long. Definitely liked it but not sure I loved it.
3.5 - Slow start but really picked up by the end. Alex has some pretty rotten luck. I didn't think the first book needed a sequel, but it was nice to get more depth from these characters. Overall enjoyed it and would recommend to T. Kingfisher fans.
