Why this book?
The titular Alanna is a tomboy who swaps identities with her twin brother Thom to go and become a knight. Over the 4 books, you follow her story from a young girl who struggles to hide her gender and yet refuses to give up on her dream, through to her becoming a female knight and saving the kingdom. Very badass, and as a fellow tomboy I loved this series when I was little!
