The Road

Why this book?

This one is admittedly bleak. But that's part of it's appeal for me I suppose. I'm not a doomsday prepper, but I do have an bit of a latent obsession with apocalypses and their aftermaths. The writing in this one is practically poetry. Despite the physical and emotional darkness in the story there were moments of real love and hope -- an allegory for all of life I guess.

Why this book?

I read this one in an afternoon. It felt like a bit of a classic fable of sorts. The story reminds me to look for magic in the world. Everyday magic is out there happening all the time if you're willing to see it.
