I have to admit that when I started to read Delirium, I thought it would be a nice, pleasant reading. I hoped so at least. And when it figured out i was right, obviously it was also so much more than that.

Me in two words after reading COHF : SO EMOTIONAL.
I love everything about this end (though i hate the e- word) and everything was just GREAT. What I really enjoyed was that there was in fact plenty of references about the four Cassandra Clare series : that was a bit like a super remastered crossover series, haha. So enjoyable.
Eventually, The Mortal Instruments worked like a painting : all you ever see out is dot and shapes, while you learn from the details and the dots and shapes finally become incredibles stories and memories. This is that metaphor that makes me believe this series is so much more than the average : you build your imagination in such an amazing and efficient foundation here. I really can say now that City of Heavenly Fire was by far one of the best creative rune of its writer.
And Clace, Malec, Sizzy. They rock so well we may think the world is trying its best to fit them.
May we meet again very soon, buddies <3
What a disappointment.
Benedict was the biggest one of all. In the series he's this artsy, queer, romantic figure of the family, someone that I really was eager to read more about and yet in his own book I've found nothing of the sort. He's portrayed as someone who has an instant crush, and from since then all kind of revolve around this mysterious girl. If it was only that, it would be ok, but this crush made a jerk out of him? I won't spoil anything but he wasn't a good character in this book and I'm sad about it.
And Sophie... Well, at the end we don't know much about Sophie except the fact that she had a difficult life. Nothing about what drives her in life, her personality... That makes only but a very bland character. At the end she was just the trope of the victim who gets to be saved by the love of a wealthy man. I wish that I could sympathize more with her but she wasn't real enough for me to do that.
And finally, the both of them together felt flat as well. Like, I couldn't even say what brought them together. I struggle a bit with those instant crush tropes because sometimes they seem way too easy, like... It can't get out of nowhere. Instant crush doesn't mean that nothing can explain what drive the characters together, you need at least a basis of connection to make it genuine and believable.
I have no freaking words to describe this book?
OH. MY. GOD. It was by far the best of the series. And if you haven't liked the first ones, I bet this one will change your point of view overall.
This was... woah. GIGANTIC. My love for the characters just got stronger and stronger and I'm so so happy to find out that Jace and Clary weren't actual siblings, even if I already knew it. And I'm soooo in love with the sexy vampire version of Simon.
CASSANDRA CLARE YOU'RE MY FIREWORK
I loved that trilogy so much. Perfect combination of an entertaining story and a dark, magic atmosphere. I will miss Jude, Cardan and the others A LOT.
Two months to read a book that I've already read twice. I love pushing the limits of my reading slump, it's quite impressive lol.
Probably my first really good read of the year, SO SO GOOD, I can't recommend it enough!
Wow. That was one hell of a ride in one single book. I wanted a book with a massive story so I could go out of my reading slump and what better than an ode to stories within stories within stories... I never read such a vibrant love letter to the wondrous complexity and beautiful act of reading books. Thank you for this reminder.
Update: after a few days, I think my overall feeling towards this book is closer to 4 than 5 stars. There's so many things that I love in this book and it's so beautifully written but I think I was too lost sometimes for it to be a perfect read. At first, I blamed my ADHD mind but comparing to my other reads it truly isn't the matter as much as I thought. You gotta be really conscious about how abstract this book can be and how it might be at the same time a good and a bad thing.
Such a fun adventure! Pirates and mermaid/sirens stories are DEFINITELY my thing. I especially loved Lira's personnality.
VERY predictable and not the kind of story i'm in the mood for rn so i don't want it to alter my review but it was still fun! also you gotta love the whole range of lgbt+ representation in this one
I don't really know why I spent years reading this but now I really really want to see the TV show!!
I wanna live in this book, thank you very much. Still processing Neil Gaiman's talent for depicting such incredible and dreamy universes. That was absolutely perfect for the hopeless dreamer/amateur of fairytales that i am. Just. Wow.

i loved the beginning so far, i'm just not in the mood for this kind of reading right now
I can't put another rating because I've learned new stuff about Harry Potter, even if just a few. That's enough to make me feel the happiest. :p
A beautiful ending to a beautiful duology. I'll keep these characters and their stories deep in me for a time, I think. This was sooo beautifully written and what a powerful couple made Khalid and Shahrzad!
