“Even in the Future the Story Begins with Once Upon a Time”
loved the retelling of cinderella in a cool way! Cinder is a great female character and I actually like the romance!
only negative is two things
- transphobic joke??? I couldn't tell if it was or not
- writing felt very basic. not always a bad thing, just wanted a little bit more
(4.5, rounded down)
the only reason it gets a 4.5 is because for 20% of the book i was so confused what was happening

YALL THIS BOOK IS 100% BETTER THAN TWILIGHT. I LOVE ALL THE CRINGE JOKES.
i don't think i can EVER recover from this book.
CHLOE GONG IS PAYING FOR MY THERAPY.
anyways i didn't actually think roma and juliette would die and the end of this book, like i genuinely thought they were gonna pull a marshall
i thought i would enjoy this book, but i was mostly just bored and disappointed. i think i would have liked it more if i didn't read tons of fantasy books, this book just doesn't compare to others i've read
the only thing i liked about it was that the main character (and author) have cerebral palsy, and i liked how that was included in the story. definitely read the authors note if you ever pick this up
rather than that everything else felt very ok, i actually enjoyed the 100 pages tho those were exiting
y'all must be lying because this was way better than the first.
not great but still better
this book literally has to be one of my favorite reads this year...... SO GOOD‼️
i love how it's so fast paced and all of the characters are super enjoyable, everything i need in a book
i got the entire series from the library......but i'm seriously debating buying all the books just so i can have them and obsess over them again
this book felt so unnecessary and forced. Even though I love Day and June they DID NOT need to be together in the end. I felt like the author only wrote this book too make the fans happy, which isn't always a good thing.
The only good thing was Eden, pretty funny and was enjoyable. Wanted more of him!
(4.5)
What A amazing book! from the lavish descriptions to the Chinese Mythology elements packed in the book, there is really a lot too love here. The writing really kept me engaged and loved the different POVs that we got
in the book. The only reason it's not a full five stars is that I wish the ending was longer! The ending was definitely the best part and I can't believe it was only a couple of chapters! Anyways, read this book if you love Romeo and Juliette, Stars, and some rebellious kids.
Thanks to Netgalley and Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
“They had an ordinary life, full of ordinary things-if love can ever be called that.” ☹️
this book DRAGS for most of it......... but it was enjoyable because of tamar and nikolai
i'm a real sucker for morally grey/villain characters, so i really liked this book
the only bad thing was it got a little slow in the middle, and some of the character motives didn't make sense to me. that's the only negatives tho, overall i really loved it
i know i give 5 stars to a lot of books but i REALLY mean it for this one.
(btw, the second book in the series was over a 6 week wait at my library
It's ALMOST a 4 star. Didn't love the story but it was still enjoyable. I'm 100% gonna watch the movie when it comes out tho
I CANT BELIEVE I FINISHED IT SO FAST LMAO
anyway......yeah this book is really good. I loved the characters and plot so much it hurts. the world-building was a little hard to understand at the beginning, but once i got that it was an amazing read.
btw i'm in love with Sabran, she carried the book
“This is what love dose”
OMFG I LOVES THIS BOOK‼️now I can understand people not liking this book, it was kinda slow and boring at times. but literally everything else makes up for it.
the romance between Nina and Hanne is KEEPING ME ALIVE
Also the darkling can burn in hell
“Zoya of the lost city. Zoya of the garden. Zoya bleeding in the snow. You are strong enough to survive the fall”
I DID NOT KNOW I NEEDED THIS BOOK IN MY LIFE UNTILL NOW. lots of peoples say that this book is boring, but I found it so fun and exciting. Zoya is 100% my favorite character
GO TOO HELL THE DARKLING
i'm so glad this book had a semi happy ending, i wouldn't be able to live it it didn't
anyways loved this book and how it incorporated queer/lesbian history. such a good read.
