I punti toccati da questo libro sono in teoria buoni e ben strutturati, ma il libro è troppo corto e non spiega mai alcuna ragione sul perché bisognerebbe fare in un modo piuttosto che in un altro.
Consigliato per chi non ha mai avuto un cane e vuole un riassunto di cosa voglia dire a spanne averne uno. Sconsigliato se si ha già avuto almeno un cane.

A very nice conclusion to one of my dearest series and world. However, several plot threads were left unconcluded (the same happened with Shadowfever). I was sorry to hear of the health issues Ms. Moning had to go through. I wish her all the best and hope she becomes fit again and be able to write wonderful stories.

per essere un romanzo d'esordio, non si può essere cosi crudeli e terminare un romanzo sul più bello :(
le uniche cose che non mi sono piaciute sono: la prima persona e il tempo verbale usato, il presente.
per il resto, qualche piccolo confronto con la serie Fever mi è venuto naturale. ci sono svariati punti in comune, ma quest'ultima rimane comunque qualche gradino sopra.
l'elemento steampunk, seppur a me non piaccia, qui è inserito in modo consono e curioso.
complessivamente, ne consiglio la lettura! è un romanzo pieno di azione, tensione e segreti che vengono snocciolati col contagocce..maledizione, voglio sapere!

The worst nonsense drama ever!

When I first heard of the release of a book dedicated to Xcor and Layla, I was already in a ‘meh' mood. I don't stand Layla's whining and don't even like the couple and the chemistry.
I have also wondered if I should stop reading the series, but I decided to read it just to know what would have happened after I had heard of the release of The Thief. I am very curious to read about Sola and Assail, even if they look like respectively Xhex 2.0 and Rehv 2.0, so I didn't want to miss any relevant plot event.

But here we are: there is no important event. There is just nonsense drama and crappy stuff happening!
I am sorry not to like this series anymore. It used to be one of my favourite series and I loved the characters and everything, but it got less and less appealing over time with non sense drama between characters just to keep alive something that doesn't even sound realistic at all.

I hope that the next book will be better for me, otherwise I will seriously consider to stop there.

Honestly, reading it from the Night Shift anthology, but I'm going to read and rate only this novella. That's why I selected this format, even if it hasn't been released yet.

Provo sentimenti contrastanti riguardo a questo libro. Non so se dargli tre o quattro stelle, quindi vada per un 3.5 stelle.
Cosa mi è piaciuto di questo libro:
- lo stile dell'autrice che nonostante i difetti è riuscito a catturarmi e a tenermi incollata al libro per sapere cosa c'era dietro al mondo che aveva creato
- le dinamiche che legano i rapporti tra le creature e i mondi
- e anche la storia, dai. non mi ha fatto impazzire, però tutto sommato mi è piaciuta.

Cosa non mi è piaciuto:
- chimere e serafini sono due figure mitologiche che, a parer mio, cozzano un po' tra loro. O fai angeli e demoni, o chimere e qualcos'altro.
- trama: misera. Più che un romanzo, io lo definirei una storia, una di quelle storie da papà castoro raccontate prima di andare a dormire, che, ripeto, comunque è riuscita a catturarmi. La trama è pressoché assente, poiché in questo primo volume la domanda a cui vuole rispondere è “chi è Karou”. Per farlo l'autrice torna indietro nel tempo, quindi quasi metà libro è un flashback e perché la trama si muova dobbiamo aspettare, suppongo e spero, il secondo volume.
- troppo romance: la seconda metà del libro tratta della storia d'amore tra i protagonisti. Ci sta, è anche carina, ma è come se fermasse il fiume della storyline che invece necessitava di andare avanti. mi spiego meglio...
- buco nella trama: SPOILER ALERT

Karou ritorna a Marrakesh alla ricerca di Razgut e insieme stanno per andare a un portale nel cielo. Tant'è che Karou dice testuali parole: “Sì. andiamo adesso”. Fine del capitolo, ma in quello successivo lei è a Praga dalla sua amica. I mean, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
Dopodichè c'è tutto il flirt con Akiva e si torna a questo punto nell'epilogo dove lei va solo con Razgut perché ha mollato Akiva. NO! non si fa così!

Concludendo, leggerò anche il seguito per sapere come continua la storia. Lo consiglio? Sni. A voi la palla, per così dire ;)

This is a quite strange story, so I can understand why several people wrote opposing reviews or are kind of disappointed.
I'm glad I enjoyed very much this book, even though it is sometimes a bit slow. Well, probably the pragmatic, curious and scientific approach of the biologist to new situations helped a lot XD
Overall, it is very fascinating and totally caught my interest. I couldn't put it down: that's why I finished it in one day.

4.25 stars.I don't know what to say, because my heart is broken. I didn't expect it would end up like that. When I started reading it, the events didn't fully convince me and I thought that everything would end in a positive way for Celaena and Sam (that they could achieve their almost impossible mission and could be free from Arobynn). I found the plot a bit forced in the first half and I was like “hurry up, guys! you keep saying that your're the most capable assassins of Adarlan, so show it and make it short”, but after you-know-what, I was overwhelmed by my inability to see that coming and by feelings.So, on one hand I appreciate the courage of the author and the fact that the story isn't predictable and on the other I'm here with a shattered heart and in ‘don't-know-what-to-do-of-my-life' mode.Damn you, Sarah T.T
