This book. I cannot express what I want to say into words.
The plot wasn't fast-paced and it wasn't a page-turner but it's supposed to be that way. Ruta Sepetys' writing is magnificent.
One of the best books I've ever read in my entire life. Even better than his other works (except maybe Have A Little Faith).
2.5 stars
too technical and US-centric for me in certain parts but glad to have picked up a jack bogle read!
3/5 stars
i didn't enjoy it as much as i thought i would. the ending was one of the only parts i truly liked.
actual rating: 3.90/5 stars
enjoyed it a lot. better than legend. still not a page-turner for me though
2.5 stars
only real spooky ones were the thing and the girl who stood on a grave. thoroughly enjoyed the funnier ones in the second half!
for a sci-fi thriller, it sure did make me cry! off to tell everyone in my life that i love them!
that plot twist was abominable... no idea why i bothered to finish the book when nothing pained and bored me more than reading it.
probably a mistake to read this after the awesomeness that was the final empire... a decently pleasant read that simply wasn't for me or for my taste!
2.5 stars
just like pines, slightly disappointing... confirms my theory that the series could've been condensed into a singular book but nonetheless, didn't necessarily dislike the story, just didn't have the same thrill the first had
2.5 stars. majority of it had pacing issues, with the book getting interesting only in the last third. didn't help either that all the characters had zero personality. but surprisingly, i still would like to pick up an emily st. john mandel in the future because of this novel's scientific intrigue!
