A Flicker in the Dark

The plot is promising. The narrative, meanwhile, could be a bit better. I understand that the story is written from the Chloe's POV and yes, I get it that she has been through enough. But to have to read her inner monologue about the past, how she droned on and on and on about it all in her head, well, it gets pretty boring and draggy at worst.

For a traumatised person wary with men, though, she sure is quick enough to sleep with another man right at the first sign of trouble with the fiance. I was like, huh? And honestly, she is a tad selfish. Of course, she deserves to be after all the troubled past, but somehow I feel like her personality is... mostly confused. Chloe herself gives me some sort of anxiety. I really could not understand her, or emphatize with her.

Even though I could quickly guess the outcome, there were some part where I questioned myself but the storyline is pretty predictable, except for the part of Daniel's sister. That was totally unexpected. Everything else? Mediocre.
