A Love Letter to Whiskey

edit: i forgot to add that this has cheating with no remorse whatsoever. i did not get why did jamie end up with jenna when he flirted with brecks all the time and would take her out for long rides, etc. then when brecks gets a boyfriend, he decided that he cant stop himself and kisses her TWICE and also sleeps with her. and this happens 2-3 times while they are with different partners. this made me really dislike this book. why do authors glorify or include cheating tropes in such a light, dismissing that the fact this makes jamie and brecks both walking red flags. brecks always mentioned how she DIDNT feel guilty!!!


i wanted to read this book since a month or so because i saw a two line scene shared on instagram, and the second chance romance thing got me but i was not expecting it to be this bad.

The writing was actually pretty great. There was chemistry, there was some really well written dialogues and sentences that just got to my heart, there was angst but there has to be a limit, right? Like how much angst is too much angst?

What i didn't like and understand about this book was how long it took them to get together. I mean, Brecks or whatever, was the most indecisive character i have come across. First, she disappeared after her father's death, didnt pick up his phone as though talking to him would change stuff. Second, she didn't want a long distance relationship and couldnt give him her all but loved him. Third, she didnt want to label what they had because she wasnt ready for the commitment because she had daddy issues. And meanwhile, Jamie was so patient, so persistent, and i actually liked jamie. I liked his character, i also think he wasnt wrong to say all those things to her outside the bar and deciding to marry as well (except the woman is insecure - of course - and she ruins it)

Maybe this book could have been better or not, but it wasnt my cup of tea. I like to read romance to feel better about my own love life, or lack thereof. This made me feel glad that i am not in either of these characters shoes because i would have gone insane.
