A Thin Dark Line

This is my first book by author Tami Hoag. I haven't read many police thrillers lately and this was a good switch up.

Being a woman in a man's world is never easy, but back in the 90's I'm sure it was much harder. Being a woman of intellect, integrity and morals makes it twice as hard. Annie is a deputy striving for that detective badge. Along the way she stands up against one of “their own” and so gains the ire of the male dominated precinct.

There is a serial rapist running around, a potential murderer set free on a technicality, and even though she's ordered to mind her own business she of course begins snooping. This leads her to some unwanted attention and dire happenings during the unsanctioned investigation. Of course at the end of the day, Annie solves what no one else could (albeit with a tad bit of help).

Tami Hoag has a way of trapping your imagination and bringing you into the investigation with Annie. This was hard to put down. There were so many times when I wanted to just skip to the end it was driving me crazy.
