I saw this book in the book store and bought it not knowing much about it. I will say, I don't think this book was for me, but it was still a 3 star read. American Queen is a retelling of King Author, Guinevere, and Lancelot's story. I honestly know very little of the tale of King Author, so this didn't really pull my opinion either way. This is an adult 18+ book. Lots of sexual content. Lots of language. I felt like the writing over all as well as the smut was well written. The kinks explored in the book aren't things that I personally gravitate toward, but the writing style was good. I did enjoy the characters and their development. This was my first Sierra Simone book, and I knew it was going to be spicy/smutty which doesn't bother me. However, check trigger warnings because some things/kinks explored throughout the book may not be your cup of tea. Overall, I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I think the writing style is what got me to give it 3, rather than 2, stars. I plan to read other Sierra Simone books, but I will not be continuing this particular series for the reasons I've posted here.
