I adored the Bennett Family series, like thousands of other people, and I'm sure we all had the same fears and questions when it came to the end of its run. What now? How can we ever move on? Will this Connor family be able to make us feel the way the Bennetts did? Layla is a genius. The Connors are a wonderful family, they have a totally different dynamic than what the Bennetts had, and it works so well. The way the siblings interacted was pure brilliance. This could have gone one of two ways, it could have been the Bennetts rehashed, or it could stand on its own originality, and it's the latter. This series feels new and fresh and I am so excited to spend more time with the Connor Clan! I listened to this book in one sitting, once I started I just couldn't pull myself away from this story and these characters. Layla writes characters you want to know about, you want to spend time with, and her writing flows so beautifully that it just immerses you into their world.
Landon and Maddie are so sweet together. From early on you must know they're a match made in reader heaven. The way they interacted and came to terms with their feelings was sweet and beautiful. No major conflicts to drag out and make us question their feelings. It was obvious. Landon is such a swoony sweetheart, I fell for him early on. He's not had it easy, raising his younger siblings and then losing his wife - but, he doesn't close himself off, he embraces his feelings for Maddie, even if they weren't what he planned. Maddie is such a wonderful character, I adored her. She's making a name for herself in a tough business, all while helping her sister finance college and although she doesn't have the need for a man, and doesn't want to get hurt again, she's still open to a relationship with Landon. The chemistry between them was palpable and the steam level, well, let's just say Landon isn't all sweetness wink The other Connors are awesome, I can't wait to get to know them some more. The next book is out soon, right?
Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are a powerhouse. They always deliver when they perform, and when they're paired up, you know it's going to be magic. This book is no different, I thought Sebastian embodied Landon, he was just the perfect voice for this character. Andi was brilliant as Maddie. They both bring so much emotion to the characters and the change of tone and inflection really gives each character a unique voice. The production was fine with no issues I noted.
