Bodyguard

A story with some brilliant moments and some really stupid ones also, so I'm headed for the middle of the road on rating. The scene where Esmé insists on running away into the Everglades and the dog King follows her so persistently was so much fun! But then her continually running away from law enforcement right into towns where her uncle holds absolute control, with only the clothes on her back, is the flat-out stupidest thing a woman who supposedly cares for living should think of doing. So I never really liked Esmé because I spent the book wanting to smack her over the head a few times...otherwise a good story.
