I told myself I would wait until closer to the release of Shattered Souls (Book 3 in this series) to read this book, and now I am kicking myself because I need more! This ending... It took such an unexpected turn at the end, and I am unwell and in desperate need of book 3 in my hands! This book is the second installment in the Guardians of the Maiden series by @beck_michaels I read and reviewed book 1 (Divine Blood) earlier this year, and I really enjoyed it; but, y'all I devoured this book! I loved everything about it! This book continues to follow the stories of our Maiden, Dyna, and all of her guardians. As with book 1, this is multi-POV which I love. I feel like the story is so well rounded because you get to see it on all sides, and the characters feel so well-developed! There is an element of women empowering other women between Lucenna and Dyna that I really appreciated. The author writes strong female characters well, and I was glad our FMC started to come into her own strength by the end of this book. There is so much tension between the two main characters... its so thick. This is such a slow burn romance, but worth it in my opinion. This book has some fun tropes like “one bed at the inn” and the nightmare trope. I am already forming theories in my head for what will happen in Shattered Souls, which comes out in August. This is a YA fantasy, 16+ for themes and very mild sexual content.
