“Finding Adley” centers around two sisters, Sara and Cora. When Sara is 9, she witnesses the murder of her 14-year-old Cora by Cora's friend, Adley, who then disappears without a trace. The catch? Sara is blind and is the only witness to the crime. Seventy years later, Sara's granddaughter, Myrtle, hires well-known biographer Ginny Mersea to write her grandmother's biography and help her solve the mystery of Adley's disappearance.
The story unfolds over two timelines: the sisters' story is set in the early 1900s and Ginny's in 2006. What starts out as a straightforward historical fiction story soon unfolds into an emotionally compelling mystery with twists and turns that take you on a rollercoaster ride through both the past and present. The characters are likable and well-rounded, each with their own unique voice, and the plot moves along briskly, keeping you engaged all the way to the end. My favorite aspect was the relationship between the two sisters and how pure their love and friendship for each other was.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.
