WOW. Just wow. This starts off as a pretty conventional Jack Daniels' tale – nasty murder pulled off by someone very clever, who has a big plan for further acts of malfeasance. Jack and Harry wise crack their way through an examination of a crime scene – razzing a young cop (and educating him a bit), all in all a fun day at the office.

And then things get crazy. The murderer they're initially investigating turns out to be a worse monster than expected. Aaaaaand, on the Jack's homefront, things get very scary and very bloody.

After about page 40 (I'm guessing, don't have the book with me), this becomes something totally unlike anything Jack and her friends and family have been through yet. Harrowing stuff.

There's some major character development here that was quite shocking and horribly funny. I laughed out loud – a lot – during this one (in between the sitting on the edge of my seat stuff)
