Read this as summer homework before taking a class on emotionally focused therapy. I see a lot of value in reading this book as a therapist, even if the book is oriented toward couples. Sue Johnson walks through the basics and more of EFT with plenty of case examples, questions to reflect upon, and references to research/poets/authors/etc. that make the book easy to read and understand. Some of EFT seems a little cheesy for my taste, but I still see value in recognizing the importance of attachment and previous relationships in our relationships today. I can see myself recommending this book to couples and using it as a guide when working with couples.
