ReRead November 2022

If I was to rate this book now, it would be more of a three stars. It's still fluffy and cute, but it's also kind of odd the way Daniel starts fantasizing about moving in the first night he spends at the house. After four days, (which is what the book says, by my calculations, it's only been three) he is thinking wishfully thinking about moving in and never leaving and calling the place home in his mind.

Jeff also feels like an enigma. Because the story is short and none of it is from Jeff's POV, we know that Daniel likes Jeff, but, because of how short the story is, we really don't know why. I mean, would Daniel have liked anyone that was nice to him that he spent the holidays with?

I'm going to stop talking now, before I talk this into a two star book.

(Honestly, I think I might have liked this short story better if it had been told from Jeff's perspective, for reasons that would be apparent if you've read the book. And reasons that would be spoilers if you haven't.) Because then it wouldn't have to be based on Daniel simply thinking that Jeff was good looking before the story started, but Jeff already had feelings for Daniel, so the fact that we are given few to no real moments of them building a relationship would not have mattered and it wouldn't feel quite so much like a desperate case of insta-relationship.

But I said I was going to stop before I was left with two stars.

Original Review

Total fluffy fluff. The only slight complaint I've got is that the romance moves kind of fast but that is the nature of short stories. I would have loved to read another hundred or so pages of this because I liked the guys and their chemistry could have carried it without a problem. Abby was even surprisingly great and I don't like kids. And I do love the way the relationship develops: all warmth and contentment instead of sex and passion - which is my much preferred romance development.

Reread December 2018 for the sequel. Still cute.
