Why?
I like the idea, love it even, but the actualization of it... I don't read much in the urban fantasy genre - though I have been trying of late - but this book hit so many of my checkmarks. I love retellings and new takes on the fairytales and the set up seemed a little like Warehouse 13/The Librarians which are two of my favorite TV shows. Also, this cropped up on several lists as being LGBT+ friendly and if you know me you know that's something I look for.
Anyway, I think he idea was great; the format was a little odd, but I could deal with it; the switching between first person and third person was distracting but I could over look it. Where my problems came in was, even in as little as I read, I literally hate the characters. Henry and Sloane are both bitches, (though I could ALMOST forgive Sloane this because she has her reasons) Jeff and Andy are nothing, just rounding out the requisite four man team, and I didn't stick around long enough to find out if I'd like newbie Demi or not. The way the rest of the characters went, it's doubtful.
I do still want to read something else by this author because I keep hearing how people love her work, but I'm just not sure anymore...
