THIS HAS TO BE SAID... THERE SHOULD BE HUUUUUGE TRIGGER WARNINGS PLASTED ALL OVER THE PLACE FOR THIS BOOK. IT IS AN INCREDIBLY ROUGH RIDE THAT LASTS FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE BOOK AND IT IS GRAPHIC.

This is not your typical romance book in any way. If you are looking for light and romantic, this is NOT it. I was looking for light. Everything about this story and journey is not typical, at least I didn't feel like it was all in one book but it is realistic. Realistic as in the things that go down are real. It was just a bit much to get it all in one book. There are a lot of twist and turns. It definitely reminded me of Spanish Novelas where they throw every impossible scenario in there and then it all works out in the end. You won't find that the scenarios written in the book are wrong or inaccurate it's just all piled on, one on top of the other.

The cover of the book is what drew me in initially but it was the woman we met in the first chapter that kept me there. With that said, we don't really see that woman again once that initial meet and greet has been put to rest.

I might review some more but I'm not sure yet on which platform. I finished the book. I read the bonus story. I definitely want to read the other two books in the series. Even though the author states they are stand-alones, they still have at the center characters we met in this book and who were pretty important. With that said I suggest you definitely start with this book first. I will be cautious about reading the other two because I can't handle heavy like this right now, right now. So maybe later.
