I don't know how to rate this... Maybe a 2.5, so rounding it up.

Compass Rose of the same author is one of my favourite books, and with that in mind, I had super high expectations for this retelling of Robin Hood. I'll give points for the potential and the courage to write this. I am not a fan of historical/medieval novels, though. And I'm also not a fan of how much of this book is a tale of homophobia keeping young lovers apart. There's a misbalance. I think I needed more of the hero tales, more rawness, more... gore, maybe? More diving into the depths of complex minds. I feel the story could've gained more substance from that. It's not a bad read... Just... Not the level I was expecting.

So... If anyone ever reads this review: go read Compass Rose! :)
