Number One Chinese Restaurant

Listened to this one on audio. I have worked in a restaurant myself, and know the complexities of the lives of the people behind the dining experience. Here we have almost soap opera level drama and two families at turning points in their lives. At the same time, I couldn't help but feel this was a little over the top and that took away the realism a bit for me. I guess I expected a bit more of an immigration story as well. Oh, well.
It's not a bad story, by any means. The writing is lovely. I just didn't love it.
