Very good – Rowling is yet to disappoint with her detective novels. The key here being, of course, the relationship between the detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant/colleague Robin Ellacott, the whole frail “does he respect me as a professional” and “thank god she's engaged so I don't have to think about a relationship with her” dynamic – it works splendidly. The murder case is brutal and full of misogynistic violence in this one, and despite certain clichéd elements it does work quite well. Looking forward to the next Cormoran Strike novel.
