Note that I read until about 40% into the book. This review talks about this part of the book.
The premise of this story sounds very good, however I couldn't connect with the story.
I mostly rely highly on connecting with the characters in a book and I couldn't in this book. I have never felt so emotionally distant from a book. However, this is the format of this book. We're not given names of the possible suspects, but just their occupation (computer programmer, army veteran / Chicago cop, ex-college athlete, despondent high school student). I think that the thing of not giving names or many emotional aspects to bond with the characters, is supposed to be the “charm” of the story and a way to keep things mysteriously, but sadly, this didn't work for me.
If you like mysterious books in which you piece by piece have to find out more about the suspects of a drama that happened, this will definitely be the book for you!
