The last time I enjoyed a friends-to-lover trope this much was Shadow And Bone (book 1) back in 2016, which is I RARELY enjoy this trope. But somehow Henry's writing feel just right for me and I really loved this book.
Ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, Poppy and Alex are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she's in New York City, and he's in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together. The story told back and forth between past and present, and I can't help myself to want Poppy & Alex being together & kiss, HA!
It's quiet predictable but there's something the way the author told the story that made me can't put the book down. I love the writing, the jokey banter, and the dynamic relationship between main characters. I didn't feel like reading a book, but feel like I watch real life story, the realness of the humour, the dialogue, the chemistry.
I have read 2 Henry's work and she's officially my favorite author. I'm excited to wait her latest work, Book Lovers, already place hold on it from library.
