The first book was more about Erik, so this second book is now about Roo and his rise to wealth and status. The problem with this book is that the events that keep transpiring around him and give him his opportunity seem a little too often and a little too favourable. Either it's really his luck or it's his destiny I suppose. But overall, it's a good read in that it's a very different sort of fantasy story and told from the perspective of a merchant and trader.
