Sweet story...but in some ways it raises more questions about the author's view of marriage. Did the couple's mistakes toward each other really compute to the same thing? Both had fallen into a bad attitude, but it seemed to me that Al had just as much of responsibility for Patti's issues by not making sure there was a home budget in place. After all, if he's so much the head of the household, he's also responsible for making sure he's got a handle on where the money is going. Both of them should have sat down and TALKED about their financials the first instant that he finds out Patti has an issue. He shouldn't leave her in a place where she's afraid to talk to him about anything money-related.
