Reading it once, simple doesn't cut it.
I find myself reading a story whenever I find some free time. These stories serve as a background for all the events which occur in the later book by introducing characters and geographical locations in the Witcher Universe.
Whether it's the feud between Eithne of Brokilon vs Viraxas of Kerak and Ervyll , or a feud in a desolate district, Sapkowski's use of politics and the gray area of morality never fails to astound me and completley draw me into the situation.
Its not a simple fairy tale world, but an entire Universe in itself where a normal day's problems are not uncommon, enabling the reader to associate all the events in the book to real world issues- Be it the Scoia'tael and the Pride of the Aen Seidhe race which maybe translated as both terrorism and a rebellion for freedom, or the constant threats of war from Nilfgaard, in addition to the major northern kingdoms ambition to become more powerful.
