The Coldest Girl in Coldtown

What made me think I would like this? It makes no attempt to hide the fact that it's a vampire book (which I simply cannot get behind) and yet I cheerfully picked it up off the shelf. I think it was the stunning cover.

I will say this: Holly Black has a way with words. For all its faults, this book is certainly well written. Its faults, though, are many. I found the main character utterly unlikable which is a huge strike against any book for me. The book's setting was interesting and vivid at first but it started to fade. I understood the world as Black built it but I just didn't like it. If there are sequels to this (it seemed like there might be) I'm not sure I will take the time to read them.
