Short and sweet. A young man is determined to forge a new life for himself in the New World as a talented glassblower. He meets his boss's daughter and is immediately intrigued, only to be warned off by a coworker. When Meg's father insists she must marry a neighbor she dislikes, she begs to be excused from the duty, but he says he has to. Why must she, and who is behind the little incidents that continue to damage the schoolhouse she loves?
Not a very deep story, but a fun one to read quickly when I was in need of a New Jersey book for a challenge.
