An interesting little mystery with Russian spies in the mix. Juliet is a spunky young American and her husband is a war veteran from England; they are supposed to live half the year in each country and are in New York when the pearl secret suddenly erupts into a mess of false jewels, kidnap, spies, and more. Juliet's cousin Jack and a Polish dancer named Lyda are her only hopes, but it's hard for her to trust anyone when gossip says her husband once had an affair with Lyda, and when Jack begins to fall for the woman's charms. I loved how she kept pushing forward and not giving up on reaching an answer and finding out what happened to her vanished husband.
I wrote up a blurb for the book: “When Juliet's fiancé cannot produce the famous family rope of pearls that she expected as a gift for their wedding, he is able to explain it–but a friend leaves her with a niggle of doubt. Months later, the intrigue of the pearls leaves Juliet doubting everything she knows about her husband. Her cousin Jack and a Polish dancer may be the only ones that can sort fact from fiction, but will they?”
