Spoiler-Free Review:
This book was exactly what I needed. I was craving escapism and this was exactly that. This book is set in the Scottish highlands and now I am craving a trip! The the setting and imagery were amazingly written. The two main characters, Rowan and Bonnie are absolutely adorable. Grumpy/sunshine trope in full effect! Rowan has trauma in his past preventing him from living his life to the fullest, and Bonnie is a young woman determined to find herself. I saw a lot of myself in Bonnie and maybe that's why I enjoyed this so much. Rowan and Bonnie's banter is perfection. Theres a ton of sexual tension and a slow-ish burn but the payoff is worth it! The spice is chefs kiss extremely well-written. I laughed so many times while reading, but there were moments that tugged on my heartstrings. This book, while mostly light, focuses on some heavy topics so check trigger warnings. This is an adult romantic comedy. 18+ for sexual content and language.
