The House on the Moor
The House on the Moor
A writer and his wife travel to a strange house to find out more about his grandfather and discovers occult rituals, ghosts, and a strange creature...
While very well written, so little happens. I spent most of the story waiting for the other shoe to drop... But it's incredibly atmospheric and well described, both the house and scenery outside later on.
All the characters were good, John and Carole were very likable as the main characters and as a couple. You get the creepy old butler character too. Lots of the usual tropes of a ‘haunted house' type story. You can already tell where the story is going while you read, but there are a few nice touches, such as the creepy tape recorder sessions, and what happens at the end. But by then you know it's coming...
It was a quick, easy read I just wish more had happened and it wasn't all the usual things you'd expect.
