The Judgement and In the Penal Colony

Two strange short stories. I am sure that the Penal Colony has a much deeper meaning than I was able to deduce from it. The Judgement really just seemed like it was written of a man who hated his father.
Not really my genre, but some nicely descriptive writing about the apparatus in the Penal Colony.
