An excellent book to read at Halloween time, I think I liked it better than the Ex Hex. The setting and the characters are great. It feels like one of those comfortable young adult books you love reading growing up, with the sassy witches and the witchy shop...until you get to the “adult” parts. It's not that they were badly done, they're just not my thing, and felt incongruous with the feel of the rest of the book. I would love to lend this book to my mother...but there's no way I'm lending this book to my mother.
It was cute, and the characters were ok but I wasn't feeling the romance.
I enjoyed The Ex Hex much more, and it influenced my expectations when I started this one. It just wasn't as good for me.
Maybe, more of a case of “It's not the book, it's me.”, so take this rating with a grain of salt.
This was like a 4.5- but I love everything about it. I could not stop laughing every time Gwyn called him ‘esquire'.
This was such a cute seasonal/holiday read! It was all of the cozy, cheesy, magical, and fun things I love about Halloween. This story takes place in Grave's Glen (the same place The Ex Hex took place) and follows the story of Wells (Rhys's brother) and Gwyn (Vivienne's cousin). This is a rivals to lovers romance with thick sexual tension and fun payoff. Gwyn and Wells are both witches. After moving back to Grave's Glen for a fresh start, Wells opens up a shop near Gwyn's, and that's where the tension sparks. They work together to solve some mysterious things that are happening around town. Such a cute and fun read. Fans of The Ex Hex will like it as it had similar vibes, but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content and language.
Halloween vibes! Great Halloween themed witchy contemporary romance. Fast and funny with a tiny bit of mystery/suspense and a few steamy scenes. Cozy paranormal romance?
I tried. I wanted to see if Sterling's writing got better so I read the sequel. It didn't. If you're into vapid unromantic romances, go for it. It reads like an early T-Swift song and if you know me, you know that's not remotely a compliment. This series is just a nope for me.
This book follows the story of Gwynn (Vivi's cousin) and Wells (Rhys brother) after his return to their Graves Glen. I preferred this book to the Ex Hex but I must confess I'm still not a fan of the whole setting and [a:Erin Sterling 12326128 Erin Sterling https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1633353157p2/12326128.jpg] writing style. We get to see a bit more magic but nothing I would consider enough for a witch/ Halloween story.
This book was just as good as the first.
The characters are enjoyable and I especially like the three little witches Gwyn has decided to help along the way.
The story was up and down for me. Some parts were really great and some felt slow for the story progression, but overall I enjoyed it. It was the perfect read to go in and out of and not miss anything. A great book for the fall.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this.
Ooooh i liked it!! Both Gwynn amd Wells were fantastic and I liked that we've gotten more of Bowen too. Simon is a dick and I thoigh he might do shit like that. Ahhh i really hoped for a scene in whocj Gwynn shows Wells the picture of her with purple hair, I really needed to see Well's reaction and I can't gove full 5 stars because of that. While I enjoyed this book somewhat more than the previous one, I e joued the ending of Tne Ex Hex more. 4.85/5
