God, what a horrific book. I don't really even know how to review it.
It is well written, explains the situation well, giving background on the Yazidi religion and people, their lives and villages, and it explains the spread, like a disease, of ISIS. A more morally corrupt bunch of terrorists the world hasn't know.
It is a terrible story, and obviously one of courage and determination, but the author is clear that she is only one of many, and others were perhaps treated even worse than her. Nadia Murad was awarded a (joint) Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for her “efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict”
5 stars.
