I saw this on my shelf and felt a nostalgic pull, so I decided to pick it up. This re-read has been a long time coming.

This isn't really a review, just a couple of thoughts I wanted to document:

Neil Gaiman weaves the real world and his fantasy world in a way that always leaves be believing that his magic is reality and that our reality holds magic. That's why he's one of my favourites.

This book always wrecks me and leaves an unruly storm in its wake. I'm always a bit of a mess because of its ending, to be honest. It's the best kind of mess.

And I absolutely adore Lettie Hemstock.

“I'm going to tell you something important. Grown-ups don't look like grown-ups on the inside either. Outside, they're big and thoughtless and they always know what they're doing. Inside, they look just like they always have. Like they did when they were your age. The truth is, there aren't any grown-ups. Not one, in the whole wide world.”
